Did you ever have to sit and listen to some casual acquaintance drone on and on about all the boring minutiae of her insignificant life until all you could think of was tearing your eyeballs out of their sockets so at least you'd have an excuse to run away screaming? Watching this film is kind of like that, only you have to go through it 10 times. Despite some good acting this is still the kind of syrupy treacle that gives chick flicks an even worse reputation than they already have. I watched this movie half expecting to be disappointed because I'd read the reviews on IMDB. I am happy to say that when I got the movie from zip and watched it, I was extremely impressed. Most of the stories were captivating, a couple were downright moving, and only one seemed not to add anything important to the movie. There are moments of the monologues that are uncomfortable, emotional, anger-inducing, and just plain cute. I also recommend that viewers listen to the full commentary of the writer that is included on the DVD because you will be amazed that the ten stories were written by a man.
The acting is top-notch, the writing is phenomenal, and this is just one of those movies that you can enjoy whether you're in a great mood or a horrible one. It's not just a chick flick, it's not a collection of stilted monologues, it is truly a work of art.
