Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade
In a very different Tokyo from the one we know today, the totalitarian government rules with an iron fist. But a group called "the Sect" is staging demonstrations and challenging the government's martial law. Constable Fuse of the Capital Police's Special Unit is on a mission to stop a Sect demonstration when he encounters a girl in the sewers under Tokyo. When he fails to shoot as ordered, he is put on trial, questioned, and "re-conditioned" as a soldier. But the dead girl haunts him, both in his dreams and in the face of her sister, whom Fuse has befriended. But Fuse has made himself a target for some very powerful men. And as his world comes crashing down around him, Fuse is continually challenged to decide what is real and what is right.
Scripted by the legendary anime director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost In The Shell, Patlabor) and directed by Hiroyuki Okiura (Ghost In The Shell), Jin-Roh is a film that asks the question: can man ever truly rise above the level of a mere beast?

I just could not get into this. It's a Japanese anime movie about a traumatized special forces guy who falls for the sister of a girl he watched die. This is a pretty slow film, more about the guy and what he is dealing with and the relationship he is developing with the sister. I think I may have liked this if it had real actors, but it's hard for me to connect with the chracters in anime, so when it is trying to rope me into a relationship film, it's always going to fail.Betrayal and counter-intelligence - ceegee
This movie has a similar style, colouring and movement, to Millenium Actress, but with a political twist. Set in a '60s Japan split by political insurgency and militarism, the Special Division tries to keep the peace while maintaining an uneasy alliance with the regular police. Caught in the middle, Fusei is a special forces officer who failed to kill a political insurgent who had enough time to complete her mission. In the aftermath, Fusei is left reeling from his failure, under investigation and looking for answers. During his search, he finds the sister of the slain woman who offers him forgiveness...unless she really means to betray him. This is a great film if you like thrillers, but Zip should change the rating: this is NOT a G movie, but it is not as violent as Akira. One of the best anime movies ever. - Mohjer
First off this is a great movie and its animation is right along side Akira's, but it isn't for everyone. For a lot of people this would be considered boring. It's basically a retelling of little red riding hood (sounds wierd but thats what it is). To enjoy this movie you have to like movies that are very character driven and if you like movies that have a lot to do with politics that helps too. You will either be hooked on this movie or you will want to turn it off half way through.
