Things Behind the Sun
Allison Anders directed this drama about a Florida musician, Sherry (Kim Dickens), who makes it big with a song that details a horrible trauma -- her childhood rape. She hardly remembers it and has worked hard to rid herself of its reminders, but when a music journalist, Owen (Gabriel Mann), shows up purporting to be writing about her, little does she suspect that he knows more about that crime than he lets on.

again, i got this movie based on a cameo by the man j mascis. aside from that, this movie is sorta low budget/indie, and is pretty uncompromising.
its got an interesting story, where theres a constant sense of impending doom/failure for both the protagnoist & the antagonist. its basically about this girl who gets raped, and this guy who is a music journalist wants to do an indepth story on this band, because he claims to believe/know something very interesting about the singer/songwriters life.
the movie blows up when you realize the writers agenda. its a truely interesting story of deep, terrible strife, and inner strungle, and a humane desire for redeption. at what cost do we have the right to receive it.
get your inside out, and have no spiritual surrender. consider this your burning fight.
