Krakatoa East of Java
Volcanoes erupt and colossal tidal waves rise from the sea in this epic set in the Dutch East Indies of the late 19th century. Maximilian Schell leads a perilous sea expedition to raise a lost treasure from the ocean floor. But can he outwit government agents, a greedy crew and a volcano that's ready to blow its top?

Slow to start, ends with a bang - Chucky
This flick, originally intended for the big screen first came out in the early 60's at the Drive in. I missed it then as the closest one was just over the border and we were half way there when my dad realized that he'd forgotten his walet and the trip was aborted. As in a lot of older movies, its slow to start in order to introduce the characters and a bunch iof quirkier people you've never met. Brian Keith is a laudinum addict with a girlfriend who'e either sing or crying, the Asian diving girls can't decide if they're phillipina or Japanese but then, who really cares? About half way through the action starts, you can't compare the effects to todays but the effort was there. Factually; forget it. First of Krakatoa is west, no east of Java. Then two guys go down into the colderna of an active volcano without heat suits in a baloon. They went more than half way down and came out unscathed after inducing a magma belch. Experience tells me that they'd have been crisp fried chicken long befor they threw their engen overboard to lighten the load. I once unknowingly stood near a volcanic vent, it gave a tiny chug of steam and I got a hotfoot right through my heavy boots that I'll not soon forget. On the other hand the movie does illustrate (at least loosely) the bravery of one skipper that did save a lot of lives with his moxi. I'll watch it again today.
Note; you shouldnt rent this one if you are not actually interested in the actual event.
