A Gun, a Car, a Blonde
Richard Spraggins's (Jim Metzler) only diversion from his constant pain and wretched life is to escape to an imaginary 1950s film noir world where he becomes tough-talking private eye Richard Stone, hired to save the life of mysterious bombshell Jade Norfleet (Andrea Thompson). The cast also features Billy Bob Thornton and John Ritter.

The premise is solid. I cannot complain about the writing. The problem is that this movie is not tight. There is something about the acting and the rhythym that detracts from the film. I can't put my finger on it. It's a small complaint. Maybe its the full frame presentation. If a movie is filmed in wide screen it bugs me to watch it in full screen. Maybe its the director. He has only this movie listed at Zip. He could still be developing his skills.
It's not a bad movie. It's just that a noir type of psychological drama needs to be tightly scripted and executed.A satisfying surprise. - Eric9
Modern film noir. If you were looking for something odd, something moody then you’d make a good choice by watching this movie.
The acting is underplayed and you are never quite sure which way the story is going but the narrative will drawn you in as the lead character slips further into a black and white dream world. At first the made up world of Rick Stone, Private Eye is jarring. You’ve gotten to know Richard and how he’s dealing with his cancer then you are thrown into his fantasy world, but after a few scenes in that hard-boiled world you begin to care for the characters inhabiting his fantasy.
As the movie rolls along the hard-boiled world of Rick Stone gets a satisfying rhythm and you begin to wonder just how the real world will turn out. The film swings back and forth between reality and fantasy at just the right times.
Try it. It’s a little movie no one has heard of but you’ll be glad that you're one who has.
