P.S. Your Cat is Dead!
It's New Year's Eve, and Jimmy Zoole's (Steve Guttenberg) life is a mess: His best buddy's gone, his apartment's been robbed twice, his one-man show is a flop, his girlfriend (Cynthia Watros) is dumping him, and his cat is dead. But when Eddie the burglar (Lombardo Boyar) returns to Jimmy's apartment for one last ransack, Jimmy holds him hostage and, for one night, finally seizes control.

The first time I saw this movie, it took me until close to the end to warm up to it. It has slow moments where you think its just never going to end BUT if you have ever had just a run of real bad luck...this movie is a must see. It makes you wish you could act just like he does. Guttenberg makes a very believe down and out guy and the robber is just unfortunate in his own way. Dont be put off by the title of the movie, give it a try.The one where the book was better.... - Screening_Blue
It was many years ago when I first came across a paperback in some second hand book store that catered to my mood at the moment. It was one of the greatest little stories I have ever read. Easy, funny, yet conveying emotion with ease and flair.
Imagine my delight when I recently found out that there was actually a movie based on this great little book.
Unfortunately, while the plot in general remains true to the story, all the wonderful nuances that made the book such a gem were missing. Of major note was the ending, which strayed enormously from the original.
All of this and the fact that I didn't feel any particular connection between the the two main characters added to a disappointing experience.
