La Chevre
Gerard Depardieu and Pierre Richard team up in this comedy (later remade in America as Pure Luck) as incompetent cops Campana and Francois, who are searching for the accident-prone daughter of a filthy-rich business titan. Their investigation takes them from the boardrooms of a huge multinational conglomerate all the way to the tropics of Mexico.

Great Premise - So So Execution - LOPI
The accident-prone daughter of a business magnate is kidnapped while on holiday in Mexico. Private detective Campana (Gerard Depardieu) spends 42 days unsuccessfully looking for her. Then the company psychologist (?!?) has an idea: one of the company's employees, Francois Perrin (Pierre Richard) is the unluckiest man in the world. Who better to help look for the unluckiest girl in the world? He's bound to trip where she tripped and eventually lead to her. Hilarity should ensue but the gags are very uneven. An uninspired scene with a vine-swinging gorilla (in Mexico!) is particularly painful. The mexican actors' voices are dubbed in perfect French, which is weird. The subtitles are very good.Excellent French Farce - JA_Miss
This film is an excellent French farce that takes up the philosophical argument between luck and will, fate and logic.
I found the movie lighthearted and amusing. The opening was sheer genius, a way of pulling the audience effortlessly and illogically into the drama.
