Maddux, a bright and creative student who sees school as a confining and oppressive institution, decides to rebel when he discovers that a former student who rebelled against the same administration a few years before has escaped from a mental institution. He enlists a group of students and begins spreading propaganda throughout the school in an effort to change the schools curriculum and policies.
