Crime Spree
There's hell to pay -- and even that might not be enough -- when an out-of-town heist goes awry for a bungling crew of French burglars (Gerard Depardieu, Johnny Hallyday, Albert Dray and Stephane Freiss). Seems they've mistakenly robbed the head (Harvey Keitel) of the Chicago Mafia. Talk about yourout of water!

Hilarious. Stayed up a couple of extra hours to watch this ~ and it got me from the beginning.
An interesting flick with some good twists and laughs along the way, but not without your expected 'mob scene' violence to make it real. You won't be disappointed, in fact, you may be surprised at how much you like it. Worth a 'shot' (ha-ha... :-)Not Your Typical Mob Flick - CharleyJames
What happens when inept crooks do bad things?
Sometimes "Crime Spree" is a brilliant send-up of the done-a-thousand-times-before crime flick, sometimes it merely limps along a convoluted plot line that finds a bunch of incompetent French thieves set up by their boss and sent to Chicago to set up both a Mafioso and a corrupt FBI agent.
What I found disappointing is that Gerard Depardieu and Harvey Keitel are capable of so much more. Repeatedly, they try to be the strong actors they are only to find themselves and their characters hamstrung by a sometimes pedestrian script and heavy-handed directing. In particular, Keitel is reduced to portraying a characature of a mobster.
Still, the film is an amusing diversion, worth Zipping. I'd give it 3.5 stars if the rating system allowed me to do so.~ CRIME SPREE IS WAAAAY OFFBEAT MOB FLICK WITH A DIFFERENCE ~ 3 1/4 Stars ~ - SqueakyChair
SNAPSHOT: This is NOT A COMEDY despite what the synopsis says. Quirky. Bizarre. Brilliant in it's simplicity. Convoluted. Violent and bloody in spots but also full of naturally occurring funny moments.
MORE THOUGHTS: Doesn't qualify as a 'black comedy' because the violence is not made funny. Even although this isn't strictly a comedy the opening few subtitles had me chuckling ... and then they came to America and the laughs started to sneak up on you because they are largely unexpected in what turns out to be a deadly serious Mafia drama. Disturbing but nevertheless this movie is simply a delightful experience.
