Ju-On: The Grudge
It looks like a normal, everyday house, but the atmosphere about it is anything but. Something happened here once... no, even now there is a terror here, born of a spirit that possesses this place. The various supernatural experiences undergone by the different owners of the house, unaware of the horrible events that have taken place here, mingle across time, and the true form of the terrifying, invisible "Ju-On" that nests in this house becomes clear...

Creepy - Craigan
This film was a sufficiently creepy Japanese horror film. There are not a lot of real scares in this movie, especially for those real horror fans, but man is this a creepy movie. From the little boy, who appears as if from nowhere, to the crawling young girl, to the totally out of it grandmother. I enjoyed the movie but don't think it is one of the best horror films the Japanese have done.Creepy and Tingly and Satisfying - Bodybag109
Why do you watch horror?
You need to understand what it is you are looking for in a scary movie. If you're looking for blood and guts, Ju-On will not be your film. If you're after a more Hitchcockian sort of film where pacing, mood and tight camera control influences your emotions then Ju-On is right up your alley.
I watched this film a second time and found it even more satisfying than the first viewing. I noticed how the camera framed the subject matter and leads your eyes to look at things for maximum terror. Simple sound effects and jump cuts are far more effective in scaring you than buckets of blood. Who can deny the fright when a ghost stares out at you from the blurry background while the unaware person is framed in the foreground? Yikes!
A low-budget film that works within its limitations and scares you much more than the domestic remake.J Horror tends to be creepy not super scary - PhoenixBC
This movie jumps around a lot and if I counted right is actually 6 inter-related stories. It's worth noting that this is actually the 3rd Ju-on movie. The first 2 were direct to DVD releases in Japan and not available (as far as I know) in North America.
The story is a classic haunted house tale. Except in this one, the ghosts follow you home. As with many J horror movies, it is not super scary but very creepy. The special effects are very limited and it was obviously shot on a Japanese sized budget, but it is very good nonetheless.
