Convoy
Based on the hit song by C.W. McCall, Convoy stars Kris Kristofferson as "Rubber Duck," a defiant truck driver who speeds through three states while a corrupt cop pursues him. A mile-long convoy of protesting truckers joins him, and the action builds to an incredible climax in one of the most destructive auto crash scenes ever filmed. Directed by Sam Peckinpah, the movie co-stars Ali MacGraw, Burt Young and Ernest Borgnine.

It's difficult to understand why Peckinpah would attach his name to such B-movie fare. Regardless of the reasons, this film does not have a clear focus and seems to be wanting to copy Smokey and the Bandit. The only problem is that the latter is a far better film and Convoy just seems like a cheap knock-off, despite an otherwise good cast.
Plot lines are never fully explained so you're left wondering why characters are taking the actions they do in the movie. If trucker abuse by the police was so rampant, why didn't the plot set this up from the start? All we really see is one officer blackmailing a group of truckers. There is no justification for the violence these truckers show other than rebellion. And what are they rebelling against?
When the movie concludes, you'll be left wondering why so many talented individuals joined together to create this mess. I grew up listening to the song "Convoy" and honestly, it isn't enough to center an entire movie around.Vanishing Point meets Smokey & the Bandit - Geoshadow
This movie is a must-see action comedy chase movie if you like Vanishing Point, Smokey & the Bandit and The Dukes of Hazzard. You got a dirty corrupt cop played by Ernest Borgnine who harasses a group of truckers, led by Kris Kristofferson, with trumped up charges for money. Plenty of chase sequences, stunt jumps, crashes and fist fights with Sam Peckinpah's trademark slow-mo camera work. The dusty desert road chase with the circus-act classical music playing was hilarious. The picture quality of the DVD is below average though and doesn't fill the screen. Hopefully they will remaster this movie in the future.Not bad - Rico
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I enjoy these kinds of low budget movies. THis was made in the 70's, so don't hold your breath for special effects. I think they should remaster this classic because the sound and visual are terrible (for today's standard).
The movie is basically about brotherhood among truckers.
