Battle Creek Brawl
Digitally Remastered
Filmed in the U.S., Battle Creek Brawl is Jackie Chan's (The Medallion, Shanghai Knights) first crossover movie into the international arena. Chan stops at nothing to show the world his pioneering definition of the kung fu combat genre.
Settling in Chicago in the 1930s, Jerry Kwan (Jackie Chan)'s serene life is turned upside down when an unmerciful head of a mobster syndicate takes his brother's fiancée as hostage and forces Jerry to enter a no-holds-barred combat tournament-The Battle Creek Brawl in Texas. With so much at stake, Jerry enlists the help of his kung fu master to train him for the ultimate fight, only to go head-to-head with a rival mobster boss hell-bent on snatching the Brawls champion trophy.
Battle Creek Brawl imaginatively showcases some of Jackie Chan's best action and fight sequences. It's action as you've never seen it before. Don't miss it!

Battle Creek Brawl (1980) Jackie Chan's American Debut - bwod
I love Jackie Chan, so I thought I'd take a chance and rent this little-known early entry in his body of film work. I expected very little, so I was pleasantly surprised with the entertaining qualities of the movie. Granted it's not fine art, but if you're a fan of this actor/martial artist, then you probably will enjoy it. It's comical, action-packed, and the period decor, including antique autos, are quite novel.
Interestingly, Jackie Chan didn't speak or read English when he made this movie, so he learned his lines phonetically (by sound). This film was supposed to make Chan a big star in the U.S.A. It didn't, and he had some choice words about the making of this film, afterwards. Recommended for Jackie Chan fans. One thumb up.A good Jackie Flick - XTRUClerk
Battle Creek Brawl (AKA the Big Brawl) is a good film. It gets labelled as one of Jackie Chans American "Misfires" from the early eighties, but that's mostly unjustified. True, it is no Rumble in the Bronx, but what is? There are several good fights here and the story is no worse than any of the other Kung-Fu films of the early 80s. Best of all here's a Fortune Star DVD, which means the picture and sound have been cleaned up and the film looks better than ever. It's also at a very low price. Have a look. Cheers.
