Guns of the Magnificent Seven
In this third remake of legendary Japanese director Akira Kurosawa's hugely influential The Seven Samurai, the seven gunslingers (George Kennedy, Michael Ansara, Joe Don Baker, Bernie Casey, Monte Markham, Fernando Rey and Reni Santoni) liberate Mexican political prisoners, train them as fighters and assist them in a desperate attack on a Mexican fortress in an attempt to free a revolutionary leader.

Mediocre Magnificience - bwod
There are many re-makes of good movies, capitalizing on the title of those fine films. (The Wizard of Oz comes to mind, followed by The Wiz with Michael Jackson and Diana Ross.) But this re-hash of The Magnificient Seven (1960), that starred Yul Brynner is not worthy of the title.
George Kennedy and his comrades merely sleep-walk through this rendition.(His hair-piece, by the way is laughable.) If you like westerns, then you will probably enjoy this little time-waster. But high art it isn't. (At 106 minutes, it is about 16 too long.)
