365 Nights in Hollywood
A would-be Hollywood starlet (Alice Faye) stumbles headlong into a scam pulled by her acting teacher, who casts her in his latest production. Little does she know that the picture is meant to fail, so that its team of producers can pocket the budget. But can the plucky star -- and the washed-up director hired to helm the movie -- overcome the long odds?

Alice Faye was an A list Star! - neutrahouse
I am mystified that the previous reviewer doesn't think Alice Faye was an A-lister - not true. This particular film came quite early in her career, but she of course was one of the biggest stars of the 30s and 40s. Let me refer viewers to Hello Frisco Hello, Rose of Washington Square, Lillian Russell, In Old Chicago, Hollywood Cavalcade. You will have a wonderful time watching these films and know exactly why Alice Faye was so loved.only if you're a die hard classic fan - spoiler - Trixnbun
This is not up to my standards for the time period, however I've seen many that were worse. Alice is not a major star, and was able to play the naive woman very well, more then likely based off of her own experiences.
Watching this movie took me back to the days of my grandmother as she had one a Jean Harlow Look A like contest (Alice does a singing impression of jean Harlow). makes me wonder how many people were running scams to make money off of the big dreamers, it was the time of finding the next star at the 5 and dime.
The description is close but a bit off, Alice goes to Hollywood and joins acting school, the person running it is taking money from the naive person. She's waitressing and a gentleman gives her a ride back to school, he's a little dunce and mentions to the managers that he's just inherited $75K - so the school, a has been actor and director decide to falsify a film. He agrees, as he's got a crush on alice, but only if Alice can star in it
However about a 1/4 of the way in the director opts to make a legit film. She's falling for the director and person putting up the money falls for her so kind of a triangle.
Knowing this doesn't take away from the film, but it's not one of the more riviting of the era, but deffinitely watch ful for a minor star. She never made it huge, I can see why as she didn't have the "it" factor, but did very well in this role.
