Bright Young Things
Our young hero, Adam (Moore), needs to get enough money to marry the beautiful Nina (Mortimer). His friends - eccentric, wild, louche and entirely shocking to the older generation, seem one by one to self-destruct, to crash and burn in their endless search for newer and faster sensations. Their world is that of the very young, wild, party-loving creatures new to gramophone records and the telephone - this is a self-consciously modern generation that cannot keep still for a second. They are known to the press, who follow their every move, as the Bright Young Things.

This is a delightful period piece, especially if you are not one of the idle rich that populate it. I sometimes wonder if anyone was ever that idle or that rich, not to mention that shallow. Still, the plot moves on, not too slowly as some members would suggest. The movie ends at the end of the war [WWII], the age of the rise of the middle class, which also means the fall of many of the rich. At least some move on at the end -- where they actually go is anyone's guess. It is not a great work of social commentary, but it is a fun movie to watch.Good Film - TheGallopingMajor
It could have been better but I found this film to be a delight from start to finish. It captured the frivolous between-the-wars years and the ensuing wake-up to reality wonderfully well. Stellar cast, great photography. A real lark with some genuinely poignant moments. Not bad... if it's what you like! :) - Jessica
I actually really enjoyed this movie. I love all the actors in it and was so looking forward to getting it that I watched it the same day I got it. The story was moving, and you really came to care for the characters. Some people who have read the book don't like the ending, as it is completely different, but now with hindsight the revamp of the ending makes it all the more real to us!
All in all... great movie! Imagine... being sold for 78 pounds 16 shillings -- then bought again for 3405 pounds! Wow!!
Enjoyable if you give it a chance!
