The Shawshank Redemption
Upstanding banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is framed for a double murder in the 1940s and begins a life sentence at the Shawshank prison, where he's befriended by an older inmate named Red (Morgan Freeman). During his long stretch in prison, Dufresne comes to be admired by the other inmates for his upstanding moral code and unquenchable sense of hope.

A classic! - cathastrophe
This movie is definitely worth wtaching again and again and again. Very convincing characters reflecting very human struggles in trying situations. Ingenious. Morgan Freeman deserves a salute After his work in this movie...beautiful. You are drawn to feel for, to the point of perspiring with him as he works out his great escape to freedom.Humanity, compassion and perserverance - LawTalkingGuy
A classic and a must see! This is the story of a man wrongly convicted and condemned to life imprisonment.
How would you live the rest of your life, knowing your innocent, but yet forced to live a life confined? Tim Robins shows us how to live.
Not only is this film probably Morgan Freeman's best performance of his career, but the dialogue and story line keep the viewer compelled to watch throughout.
It's the story of heartbreak and triumph and one worth watching."I had to come to prison to be a crook!" - poppy1
This wonderful movie is based on a short story by Stephen King called "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption." It tells the story of a Andy Dufrense (Tim Robbins), a successful young banker convicted of murdering his wife and her lover.
Dufrense befriends his fellow inmates, but forges a special bond with Red (Morgan Freeman), a man who knows how to get things and the self-professed "only guilty man in Shankshank."
Dufrense, the ultimate fish-out-of-water, is soon noticed by the upper administration of the prison when they realize that he's a financial expert. At first he simply gives advice and completes the prison guards' tax forms; however, this soon gives way to much more complicated (and illegal) doings.
All of the actors are so well cast. The music is really well done. But to me, this is a movie about hope. It is about how hope can drive you crazy, but also about how it can sustain you and force you to take action to change your situation.
It is truly one of my favourite movies of all time.
