There's really not too much worth in watching in this movie. It has a decent ending, but leading up to it didn't have much of value. It wasn't even really that entertaining, with a couple of 'fun' cleaver-ish quotes here and there. Not much humour in it, dark or otherwise.
As for the technical aspect of the DVD, the movie is presented in widescreen but it's not anamorphic/optimized for wide screen TV's so if you have one you'll have to zoom in to fill the screen otherwise you'll have a black frame all around the movie, and of course zooming in gives you a crappier quality picture. Sound is okay... just stereo, but it does the job, it's not an action movie where you need to be immersed in what's going on anyways.
All in all, not really a recommended movie. In A Word: Fantastic - cameraobscura
I think this is the kind of movie that you're really going to like or you're not. There doesn't seem to be much in between.
I thought this movie was fantastic. One of the best movies I've seen of recent memory, and possibly the best, in the very least, in the last few months.
This is not a movie for every body - it is very dark humour (but if you're a fan, there's a lot of it and you will be pleased). The writing is very subtle, but brilliant, and not just of the humour, but of the inter-relationships of the characters of the film. I found the characters to also be beautifully written - although some reviewers before me do not have the same opinion.
This is not a fast movie - but it's not a slow one either. You do need to sit down and devote your attention to it, otherwise it'll slip past you and you'll miss out on some key points.Wow - clementine
Hilarious, tragic, heartwarming, heartbreaking... I stand in awe. Great collection of broken characters finding their way together. Great quotidian settings -- the crowded bookshop, the Chinese restaurant, the hospital. I love the phlegmatic doctor and the ridiculously earnest nurse and the group therapy jingly ball. I love how the children are treated matter-of-factly as real people and not just cute props. It's all somehow incredibly unlikely and yet somehow completely believable.
