For the first time, ‘D’ faces serious competition. The Markus Brothers, a family of Vampire Hunters, were hired for the same bounty. ‘D’ must intercept Meier and conquer hostile forces on all sides in a deadly race against time. great imagery - Nina
I really enjoyed the imagery used in this movie, especially the opening scene with all the crosses bending out of shape warning the audience that great evil was approaching. I found Hunter D to be visually stunning, great use of colour to depict mood. Original characters including unique looking monsters.
The theme of evil versus good is also beautifully explored. This is most evident in how the humans, Hunter D protects by killing vampires, treat him.
The extras are great as well. I liked the special on the making of Hunter D where they interview the various people involved in creating the movie.Very good vampire story - Geekeagle
If you like the old Vampire Hunter D, you will like this one even better. The graphics were beautifully done. The story was also very engaging. The characters were dark and full of conflicting emotions under a steely cold farcade. A lot of the scenes had a kind of poetic beauty to them. You don't need to watch the first movie to understand the story. They are completely separated except with the same main character "D". I highly recommend this animation. Well done.A Great Anime - Jumpshooter
I wasn't sure what to expect from this anime but I was really surprised from what I saw. The story was very nicely done as was the animation. I hear that there is an early title called Vampire Hunter D. I plan on getting this after watching this great anime.
