Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence - RogerDaniels
This follow-up to the intriguing and visually stunning "Ghost in the Shell" doesn’t live up to its predecessor. The world of "Ghost in the Shell" is a very fascinating one with equal inspiration from "Blade Runner", "Neuromancer" and "Akira". It’s a thoroughly detailed cyberpunk universe, so one can’t be expected to sit back and understand the plotline without some considerable effort. However, near the ending, the storyline becomes so convoluted and impermeable, the only solace is in basking in the impressive animation. Regarding this animation, the hand-drawn component is beautiful and extremely detailed, but the integration of CGI into certain parts of the film detracts from the beauty, giving a very unpleasant look in many instances, and removes you from being involved in the action. "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" has its merits, and is definitely worth a watch if you are either a fan of cyberpunk, anime or the original film. Just don’t expect to find the same clarity and intrigue that the first film held.Ghost in a Shell - PowaPete
Batou and his human partner enter a building booby-trapped with several different virtual realty scenarios and battle a battalion of half-built girl robots. As written and directed by Mamoru Oshii, Ghost in the Shell 2 is never less than spectacular, seamlessly combining sophisticated hand-drawn animation with computer-rendered backgrounds. It has a cluttered thickness that perhaps helps drive home the film's theme: what does it mean to be human? The dialogue chatters on a bit too much and, frankly, most of the film involves reading the English subtitles. Yet, small moments in the film resonate on a non-machine level, such as an ongoing argument about the type of food Batou feeds his pet dog.Amazing - drummer_boy
Details and more details when it comes to the animation , trully stunning . The mix of computer drawings and hand animation is just perfect : this is better than alot of Walt disney films out there . I found the story to be very complicated at times so i might have to go back and view it a few more times .
I really would have enjoyed it to be in french or english language but japanese is the only one available : subtitles is the only option .
I've seen the first one but it was a few years ago so i cant compare , but as a movie on its own ..Ghost in the Shell 2 is an amazing experience !
