Donnie Darko
Director's Cut
During the presidential election of 1988, a teenager named Donnie Darko sleepwalks out of his house one night, and sees a giant, demonic-looking rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world will end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds. He returns home the next morning to find that a jet engine has crashed through his bedroom. As he tries to figure out why he survived and tries to deal with people in his town, like the school bully, his conservative health teacher, and a self-help guru, Frank continues to turn up in Donnie's mind, causing him to commit acts of vandalism and worse.

First time around makes you say 'what????' - BrightAngel
The first time we watched the film the movie immediately just made us look at each other and say 'What just happened?'. However, when we discussed the film and remembered small details it STARTED to make sense. I saw a few scenes over which helped me piece it all together. There is so much in the movie that you need to pay close attention to, especially the pages from Ms Sparrow's book. However, the movie still lacks a lot of the details needed to really understand all of what was going on. I have heard that the Bonus Material and the official website contain more clues to understanding the movie but I haven't seen them yet. It is one of those movies that if you just watch it once, you think 'Well, that was weird' but if you watch it over and over and investigate it you could spawn hours of discussion and interpretation.Incredible unique, but what the heck? - easyHwolf
This is a strange movie that requires more in the extras. There's nothing in it to explain the ideas or messages the director/creator had.
I thought it was interesting but my wife thought it was plain weird.
This is one of those movies that people that study film will talk about for years.A twist in time - simpleme
Incredibly unique, I can't believe I waited so long to see this movie. I have not seen the original, and probably won't in the near future. I enjoyed every moment of this movie, and look forward to watching it again to pick up on the smaller details that I probably missed. Wonderfully dark and a great look into the mind of a schizophrenic. Incredible twists and the end, and connections you could never imagine. Absolutely fantastic.
