Bongwater
Struggling David (Luke Wilson) has big plans for his life - except he can't exactly remember what they are. When slinky, sassy Serena (Alicia Witt) waltzes into his life, things take a definite turn for the better - until his house burns down and she bolts to New York with a wannabe rock star (Jamie Kennedy).
While Serena frolics back East, David gets by with a little help from his friends - like a singing farmer (Jack Black) and an oversexed rich girl (Brittany Murphy). If Serena ever returns, someone's gonna get a rude awakening, as this raucous comedy hurtles toward an outrageous and unexpected finish!

I kept wondering if I had to be stoned to watch this. I watched the first 30 minutes but then gave up. The ginger girl was really annoying... In fact the whole film was annoying... I also dont like films where they show you something happen and then they go "3 weeks earlier" and you know that the bad thing is going to happen... Its like telling someone the plot...What the? - Camson
This movie has a strong cast with plenty of comedic talent, but the script is a complete waste of it. There is no story, no plot, no point. I found myself fast fwding a few interactions that were so utterly boring that they were unwatchable.
I did find a few short moments funny - but it doesn't come close to making up for the rest of the dull dialogue.
I admit that I got this movie solely for the purpose that Jack Black is in it... be advised however that his presence is about 4 combined minutes and if he isn't just laughing like a stoned goof, he's performing a Tenacious D song with the trademark KG bobbing his head in agreement.
Unless you have absolutely nothing better to watch, move on. If you're looking for a drug addiction motivated movie with black comedy elements, check out 'Spun'.Lighten up! - klmh
C'mon guys,
Lighten up. What were you expecting from a movie called "bongwater"?
Personally, I got exactly what I was expecting... a stoner comedy ... but at least the cast wasn't bad. I'm a big fan of Luke Wilson and Jack Black ... and I can tolerate Andy Dick in a movie like this. He has a small enough role that you can sort of ignore him.
The cover of this dvd says it all. This is not a deep comedy. It deals pretty exclusively with drugs and sex. However, if you want a fairly light romantic comedy and you are not uptight about pot... you might like it.
