The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Internationally famous oceanographer Steve Zissou (Bill Murray) and his crew—Team Zissou—set sail on an expedition to hunt down the mysterious, elusive, possibly nonexistent Jaguar Shark that killed Zissou’s partner during the documentary filming of their latest adventure. They are joined on their voyage by a young airline co-pilot, who may or may not be Zissou’s son (Owen Wilson), a beautiful journalist (Cate Blanchett) assigned to write a profile of Zissou, and his estranged wife and co-producer, Eleanor (Anjelica Huston). They face overwhelming complications, including pirates, kidnapping, and bankruptcy. Oscar-nominated writer-director Wes Anderson (2001, The Royal Tenenbaums, Best Original Screenplay) has assembled an all-star cast that also includes Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Michael Gambon, Noah Taylor, and Bud Cort for this wildly original adventure-comedy.

This movie was.........alrighty. i probably wont watch it ever again though. but thats not to say that its bad, it just didn't tickle my fancy thats all. i dont want to turn anyone off of watching it, you need to see for yourself for sure. One weird ride. - deathbysedan
This movie is really interesting. Bill Murray is so funny just being a crazy ocean explorer and following him around in his wacky life is kinda fun. The David Bowie tunes also make it a fun little picture. This movie is another classic case of not taking things seriously, and having fun.It is better the second time around - Myrrh
The first time I watched this I was disappointed. However, having had an opportunity to watch is again (someone else in this house is a big fan - I might have given it 3 stars), I find there is much to enjoy here. The delight is in the details. The costumes, sets, fantastic stop-motion animation sea creatures and the attention to aesthetic details are what make this worthwhile. Once I knew the story wasn't really going to deliver, I spent my energy enjoying these little visual jokes. Watch for the "dollhouse" shots where the camera pans across a cross-section of the ship going from room to room- best part of the film as far as I am concerned.
