Imaginary Heroes
People are never who they seem to be.
Following a sobering family tragedy, the Travises go to pieces. Teenaged son Tim (Emile Hirsch), the black sheep of the family, walks through his life like it's a bad dream. His father Ben (Jeff Daniels) begins treating his wife and children like strangers and completely disengages from the world around him, while his mother Sandy (Sigourney Weaver) takes to smoking pot and letting loose with all the considerable sarcasm she can muster. Meanwhile, she wages a bitter feud with the next-door neighbor over carefully concealed secrets that threaten to tear the family apart.

Overall, nice story about a family trying to cope after a suicide. Shows how dynamic families are in a tragedy and a sons struggle to live up to expectations after his older brother commits suicide. Some parts of the movie are slow but usually picks up well.take a risk to watch this film - hipoldlady
Dan Harris was 24 years old when he wrote and directed this film! Despite the fact that there are too many story threads going here and there, this is a good film that keeps your attention, through the great cast, good shots and powerful dialogue. Worth the watch!Poor Title is the Only Bad Thing - jillmo
Great performances by all especially Weaver and Hirsche. Funny, poignant, well written, a few too many plot twists thrown in there but I'll excuse that because of all that is good about it. Not what I expected - not an overly sentimental story of dealing with death but a life affirming study of relationships - parent/child, friend/friend. The title sucks though.
