Heat (Special Edition)
A Los Angeles Crime Saga.
When Al Pacino and Robert De Niro square off, Heat sizzles. Written and directed by Michael Mann, Heat includes dazzling set pieces and a bank heist that USA Today's Mike Clark calls "the greatest action scene of recent times." It also offers "the most impressive collection of actors in one movie this year" (Newsweek). Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, Tom Sizemore and Ashley Judd are among the memorable supporting players in this tale of a brilliant L.A. cop (Pacino) following the trail from a deadly armed robbery to a crew headed by an equally brilliant master thief (De Niro).

An Excellent Crime Film That Sizzles - Mookie
This three hour long epic is a well crafted thriller that has a few great caper scenes (although these are minimal) and a lot of great character development. Beyond the idea that Pacino (cop) and Niro's (criminal) characters are mirror images of each other (they have more in common with each other than anyone else in the film)is the idea we get to look at the love life of each character. Each key character has a woman in their life and that relationship plays a role in how their story develops and ends. Even to the point where the one criminal with a young daughter grabs a girl of a similar age to use as a hostage shield. A lot of brilliant touches and great craftsmanship make this a great movie and one that has aged very well. My main negative is there are a few too many "really?" moments where I didn't buy the character's motivation even if it played out well in the story (especially Kilmer's ending)and due to its length (and slow pace in parts) it isn't a movie I could easily watch again. But overall, this is a movie every film lover should see.Professional Craftsman - ABC99
There is a still intensity in Heat that brings it to life. In what may be his last great performance De Niro commands the screen as a still, cold, professional criminal, while Pacino screams his way trhough the film as he so often does.
Like so many Michael Mann films, Heat deals with obsessed men, exceling at their craft. Both the De Niro and Pacino's characters devote themselves fully to their professions that all other areas in their lifes are ignored. Great film.WOW - DaisySteiner
At first I wasn't keen on spending 170 minutes watching this movie, but I'm glad I did. It's really good. Great acting, action, dialogue, etc. And as I'm sure all the reviews mention, it has one of the most amazing shoot-out scenes in any film EVER! I'm not really an action film buff, but I still really enjoyed this.
