Eraserhead
Surreal, nightmarish psychological horror film set in neo-Gothic industrial wasteland. Art-house cult favorite is compulsory for fans of non-mainstream fare in mood for bizarre, disturbing film. Not for the squeamish.

"Eraserhead" is a surreal film that provides interesting imagery, and is more about the experience than plot and characters. Since the film relies on intriguing images and non sequitur moments, it really does become a more subjective experience that relies on personal taste. So for me, I prefer when filmmakers such as Cronenberg, Miike and Jodorowsky explore surreal stories such as this, as I find their images more captivating. Lynch is definitely in control of his film, but in the end I just didn't feel the film grab me like it should. Still enjoyable, and was well paced and had some interesting moments.Greatest film ever made! - chunkrock
I will honestly say this is my favorite film. There is so much going on that after seeing it 5+ times I'm only scratching the surface of what the film is about. The sound design in this film is incredible, and to think Lynch did that himself is insane. The story of Lynch getting the funding by having a paper route for 7 years is hilarious.
I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone but I think people that would like it would like it a lot.Three stars for sheer tenacity. - cathyottawa
You certainly can't say anyone swayed Lynch from his vision here. This is as far from a Hollywood movie as you can possibly get.
You need to be high to understand this film methinks. I'm convinced Lynch was on acid for the duration. Absurdist indeed.
This film is all about visuals - the black & white, lingering shots of urban decay - some of his shots are like moving paintings.
But the story is, well, just plain bizarre. Is it a metaphor for "fear of parenting" as Lynch has said? Maybe. But it's the strangest take on parenting paranoia you'll ever see.
If you're familiar with the film "Repulsion", this runs along a similar vein ... only even more bizarre.
I don't really know who the audience for this film is. But hats off to Lynch for having the balls to make this avant guarde, experimental piece. You can't help but admire his utter originality.
