A great old film - jampon

I have seen a number of James Cagney films, all of which have been very entertaining. In "Angles" Cagney plays a career criminal who reaches the pinnacle of the underworld. Cagney returns to his childhood neighbourhood where he reunites with his best friend who has grown up to be a priest, and is working toward building a recreation centre for disaffected youth. The performances are all great, but it is the story which is the real star in this film. Do your self a favour and check out this great film, it has action, drama, and even a little romance, it also has one one the greatest last lines I have heard in film.

Do you like old gangster movies? - Pete_Huge

This is a real treat if you like the old B & W tough guy movies. I found it hard not to like villian Rocky. He is tough and blunt, but you see where all that anger come from. The ending is very touching and makes Rocky even more of an hero by being a good villian.

3 Legends - Jimmy_Jam

This film has a powerhouse of a male cast; Cagney, O'Brian and Bogart are all brilliant. It is also intresting to see Bogart play second fiddle; he is outshined by Cagney, but these two men would come to revolutionize the role of the "tough guy." The plot has been ripped off many, many times over the years but I have not seen it done better than in "Angels." The relation between priest/criminal, friend/foe, good/bad are prominant throughout the film; it weighs heavily on each character as they try to maintain their social roles: O'Brian tries to save a group of steet kids, while Cagney tries to save them in his own "Street-wise" way, but is involved in many other criminal aspects. It is the bond between the two men that makes the film classic; watch Cagney's face as he walks through the darkly light halls, he is the image of evil, but also has a good heart. While O'Brian is not strictly innocent but is all heart. The final scene is completely moving; everything ceases to matter but these two men, their history and choices to come. Brilliant.
