Smooth and sexy Alex "Hitch" Hitchens (Will Smith) is the master of seduction in this charming romantic comedy. His specialty? Helping clueless clients make a great first impression so they not only get to the second date, but make someone fall for them. When a gossip reporter (Eva Mendes) starts nosing around his business, however, Hitch finds himself out of moves as he forgets all his lessons and has to figure out a whole new strategy to love.

Hitch is a safe yet funny and entertaining romantic comedy. The premise sounds pretty good and the execution is also pretty good. Yes, it is very predictable and kind of cheesy. However, that doesn't mean it isn't entertaining. I think Hitch is better than most romantic comedies that have come out in the past year because the characters are likable and Smith & Mendes have enough chemistry together to make the film work. Will Smith is very charming as Hitch. He plays the role well and he never gets annoying. It's also nice to see him in a film that doesn't involve a bunch of things blowing up. Eva Mendes also gives a pretty good performance and she is also very pretty.good romcom - outlander78
This movie does the romantic comedy formula very well. I am giving it five stars, using Roger Ebert's argument that you rate against genre and expectations, not an overall system. I love this movie, but I am partial to Will Smith. Hitch is a light-hearted, sweet romantic comedy with an interesting plot, and a fairly predictable ending. Even still, it’s worth watching more than once.
Will Smith is brilliant as usual, nothing new there. I was surprised by Kevin James, though. He did a fabulous job, and while I’m not really a fan of his TV show, I thought he was perfect for the part. He was very believable, funny and loveable.
Eva Mendes played a strong, intelligent female character. She and Smith have some clever dialogue, which is always fun. It’s refreshing to see a romantic comedy with a female character who isn’t “cute and bubbly” all the time.
I laugh out loud every time I watch this film.
