Erik the Viking
The Director's Son's Cut
A hilarious all-star cast - including Tim Robbins and former Monty Pythoners Terry Jones and John Cleese - star in this inspired piece of lunacy marked by a "funny script packed with typically weird and wonderful characters" (Variety). Written and directed by Jones, Erik the Viking delivers that inimitable Python humor and "consistently entertains" (The New York Times)!
Ever since he accidentally killed a girl he was just getting to like, Erik (Tim Robbins) has been moody. Fed up with the emptiness of life in the Dark Ages, he leads a quest to wake the gods and bring back the sun... and the girl, if she'll have him. But along the way, Erik will have to face formidable obstacles, including a dragon with hay fever, tone-deaf islanders who love to sing, and a warlord (John Cleese) who likes his Ages dark and nasty!

I guess I'm the guy who doesn't like this movie.
Tim Robbins is great but the script is poor. There's a difference between black comedy and really really subtle comedy. This is subtle to the point where I didn't laugh so much as I acknowledged the writer's attempts.
Let me be clear, this not a bad movie just not a laugh out loud comedy.Just keep singing! - NickDeWolfe
This movie is brilliant. It is the kind of black humour you usually expect from the British, but tim Robbins does a masterful job at the helm of this cast. If you haven't seen it yet, maybe you're a Christian and you can't. (That reference makes sense after you've seen the movie)Enjoyed it! - The_Cool_Dude
I really enjoyed Erik The Viking.
No it's not a monty python film, and it's not meant to be. It's actually a collection of children's stories put together but enjoyable to adults.
Lot's of people expect this to be super funny however it is not. There are some good jokes for sure but I would clasify this as simply good fun.
Just sit, relax, and have fun with it!
