Scottsboro: An American Tragedy
A penetrating documentary of America's racist and politically-charged climate, circa 1931-1950, Scottsboro: An American Tragedy follows the story of nine black men who were accused of raping two white women in Alabama. Although the evidence was overwhelmingly in their favour, and the supposed victims later recanted their testimony, the nine African-American men were convicted four times each by a corrupt Southern justice system.

For every story out there like this there are probably a thousand that no one knows about. This is sad. How one event can mess up someone's entire life from that day forward is beyond fathomable. All because of ignorant people. A great eye-opening piece.A troubling moment in American history... - Cricri7
Scottsboro tells the story of 9 young black men that were wrongly convicted way back in the 1930's, just after the Big Depression set in. It took hold in Alabama that was a very racist part of the United States way back when. The black young men were convicted of raping 2 young white women. It is a documentary made by PBS and it shows....it is very well made. If you love topics of social history, this is a documentary for you.
