Appleseed (Appurushîdo)
This 2004 Appleseed feature is a reworking of the earlier video based on the manga by Masamune Shirow (Ghost in the Shell).
In a utopian society created at the end of the third world war, a female warrior who has been plucked from the badlands begins to see cracks in this new facade. And what does this community have planned for the rest of humankind?

Enjoyed Appleseed - Avey
Felt skeptical of this movie at first, and didn't really enjoy the animation style as much as other movies. By half way through the movie however I was enjoying this movie and I would watch it again. The story is typical but it's still interesting, and the visuals are great! If Only It Were Non-Stop Action - BottomLine
Bottom Line: A truly outstanding piece of eye-candy; the fight scenes alone are worth the price of admission. The only problem is that the filmmakers for some reason decided to interrupt the action in many places with what must pass for thoughtful dialog in some sets. A non-stop action movie produced at this level of visual clarity, sophistication, and inventiveness would have been a rare treat.
Ostensibly a Miyazaki-style hybrid between action film and meditation on human nature, the film's writers sketch a utopia in which half the population is human and the other is "bioroid." Bioroids are genetically engineered humans (androids of a sort) with less intense emotions and a disabled reproductive capacity. The 50/50 mix supposedly balances society. But now the balance is threatened because, well, it's hard to say. In any case, the characters' motives are universally shallow and simplistic, which renders their voices clunky and mechanical. No one acts or speaks like a real person in this film.
Still, it's incredible to watch things get blown up in this film. And the hand-to-hand combat scenes are beyond impressive. If the animators ever get their hands on a real script, someone might actually get famous.A portait of my dreams - Belle_and_Andy
They've finaly made a movie I could only dream of. An animated matrix fused with Star wars and a hint of my childhood fav transformers. When this movie first started i honestly thought it can't keep looking this good and it actually held up spectacularly. This movie has reached a new level of animation. Brillant just brillant!!!
