Night Moves
Maybe he would find the girl...Maybe he would find himself.
Former footballer and present private detective Harry Moseby gets hired on to what seems a standard missing person case. An aging Hollywood actress, whose only major roles came thanks to being married to a studio mogul, wants Moseby to find and return her stepdaughter. Harry travels to Florida to find her, but he begins to see a connection between the runaway girl, the world of Hollywood stuntmen, and a suspicious mechanic when an unsolved murder comes to light.

Solid thriller, if a little flat - rdees
While for me, this film isn't the classic mystery thriller others have made it out to be, it was still a solid film with an excellent central performance by Gene Hackman and a handful of wonderfully directed scenes. While the story itself failed to grip me in any big way - a missing teenage girl, intrigue in the Hollywood stunt world, and a marriage in crisis - it's Hackman who kept my interest alive. His subtle gestures and quiet performance make for excellent viewing, even while the plot and narrative structure fall short of captivating (it also leaves a few key questions unresolved), it's his performance that pulls you through. Look for a very young Melanie Griffith, and some beautifully shot underwater scenes in the film's riveting climax.Great - rnhaas
I had heard about this movie so long that I guess my expectations wrecked it a little...at first. This isn't the movie I thought it was. There's a lot of that "things aren't right in society" thing going on, and I wasn't wholly prepared for it for some reason. However, they knew what they were doing. This is one of those "the mystery is solved but the real mystery really isn't" movies which are always nice. The ending is pretty damn awesome. It is the best part. It could have been even better I think, but it's still awesome.Night Moves. - Egmont
They say good movies stand the test of time and this one is a classic. It is a tight movie, skillfully directed and brilliantly acted by an all star cast. I saw it first in the '70's and thought that this movie should be better known. I still think so. This should at least be on the top 10 of Greatest Unkown Movies.
Hackman is outstanding and the bad guys are chilling. The ending is maybe the most chilling of endings for any movie, ever.
