Be Cool
In this sequel to Get Shorty, Chili Palmer (John Travolta) becomes a different kind of "hit" man - he abandons the movie industry to bring his wiseguy skills and negotiation tactics to the music business.
When a friend is offed while they're at lunch, Chili takes the opportunity to visit the guy's wife, Edie (Uma Thurman), and pitch himself as her new business partner at an independent record label. With a promising young pop star-in-training as his protégé (Christina Milian), Chili has to juggle her faux-urban manager (Vince Vaughn), his gay, wannabe-actor bodyguard (The Rock), Russian mobsters, and an eloquent gangsta music producer (Cedric the Entertainer) to save the label and land a hit - and keep from getting popped himself.

Not as good as Get Shorty. - moviegenius
This film was funny, but it was not as good as the first film Get Shorty. I enjoyed the first film Get Shorty a little bit more than Be Cool. However, John Travolta was good, Vince Vaughn was good, Dwayne Johnson was good and the pretty singer was good, too. I'm not sure why this film was not as good as the first movie Get Shorty. But I still recommend this movie to fans of Get Shorty. Not impressed - Jagflynn
I agree with the majority of the people here. A terrible sequel to an awesome show. I really liked the first show and hoped for something just as good. The only redeeming part to this show was Vince Vaughn and the Rock. They pretty much stole the show with whatever scene they were in. How anyone could keep a straight face when Raj was in the scene is beyond me, actually I don't know how he did it either. They were the only reason that I didn't turn off the show in the first place. Not Cool - TML4EVR
This movie is a waste of time and considering the people involved (John Travolta and Uma Thurman), I'm totally surprised. Sure, the jokes are not funny. What makes this worse is the characters. First off, there's way too many of them that it creates no flow in the storyline. In fact, so many seem to be useless.
I think Vince Vaughn is normally a funny guy but protraying a man who thinks he's black just did not work. I thought there was potential for "The Rock" to play out his character but even that didn't fly.
There was so much potential for this movie but it came down to poor dialogue and a poor script. This is definitely a movie that proves originals are hard to beat.
