For action fans out there, this movie was pretty good. Although not Ryuhei Kitamura's best movie, it still is a pretty decent attempt. I like the story and i did enjoy the fight scenes. The fight scenes are really well done (although few in number) and the story was pretty original (to me anyways).

I would definitely recommend watching Kitamura's other movies though. Versus being one of my favourite movies (the unrated directors cut), Godzilla, Azumi, and definitely Aragami are great flicks.

This director has a lot of talent and style and it shows in all his movies especially in this. Check it out and you won't be disappointed.

Magnificent - XTRUClerk

Okay, first of all, disc 2 contains a different version of the film, with an extra dozen minutes of footage and a 20+ minute making of, so it's worth looking into (Though this second version has no English dub). Second, for those who love Versus (which I do) and are expecting a clone, this isn't it and you will be disappointed. Versus was wall to wall funny and wall to wall action, this is neither. Oddly enough, most reviews I read for Versus were negative, so if you didn't like it you might like this! For people who are just looking for something different and stunning (which I always am) this one is for you. Skyhigh is a love story. Some sword fights and kung fu scenes crop up, but they are not the focus and if you rent this hoping to see them you're wasting your time. On one hand we have the villain, a man so obsessed with saving his wife from death that he's willing to kill others and unleash the devil on the world to do it. On the other, we have a detective who was about to marry one of the women the villain has murdered, willing to do anything to avenge his wife. The highlight though is the film itself. Beautifully shot with great cinematography and color. There is some gore (hearts are plucked out of chests). You also have to allow yourself some logical leaps as some of the aspects of the story are quite mad. Still, this is a wonderful, unique movie that is well worth renting and even worth buying. And yes, there are lots of pretty faces to look at as well and some sword fighting, so no one should be completely bored. Cheers.

Dissapointing - kav2001c

Prelude to a tv series, the film is at best disapointing. It has alot of good things going for it, but overall the effect is wasted as it isnt carried through properly. I think a bit of editing (or redoing some shots) could have saved this film and thats what makes it saddest to me. At the very least I can honestly say the film is differant (unique in its way) and the directors vision isnt compromised in that aspect.
