The Entity
Carla Moran awakens one night to find herself being beaten and raped by an unseen presence. Terrified of what's happening to her, and shunned by friends and family who think she's lost her mind, she seeks help from parapsychologists. The researchers soon discover that evil spiritual force has been drawn to Carla and is responsible for the violent attacks. The question now, however, is how do they stop it? Based on a supposedly true story.

Eerie, psycho-sexual drama - Scopitone
This was voted my Martin Scorcese as one of his top horror films. He wrote that the combination of suburban banality with terror made it espeically scary.
So - this is not a gory, slasher piece. It is it about her past that she has tried to repress? Is it psychosis or is it 'real' and what does that mean?
It has a great retro vibe and feel like Halloween but its definitley an uneasy subject - does it cross the line with mixing sexuality and violence? I don't know. The main actress is fantastic though.Scariest Movie - Qwinyrose
This still holds the place as the scariest movie I have ever seen. I love horror and this takes top spot. My teen daughter, at my laughter during watching of the current "scary" movies, questioned what my favorite scary movie was.
So we rented it for her to watch together. There was so much I had forgotten about the movie. I've not seen it in years. Having children now adds a whole dimension never realized when I had first seen the movie.
It is an absolute nightmare and the fact it was based on real events elevates this movie to utter complete creepy levels.
Needless to say, it was enjoying to watch it again and my teen daughter had a very sleepless night!Good stuff ! - Ogre
I remember seeing this movie some 20 odd years ago. So I thought I'd rent it again and yes, it's still scary. Especially the fact that this movie is based on actual events that took place in Los Angeles, gives me the creeps. The movie doesn't go overboard, but tries to depict what happened back then. Especially the scene where Barbara Hershey is on the bed naked and the entity squeezes her body is done in a great way.
Definitely a movie wortwhile renting !
