Teacher's Pet
Movie legends Clark Gable and Doris Day headline a comedy with class! Gable (in one of his finest late-career performances) plays Jim Gannon, a school-of-hard-knocks newspaperman who despises journalism schools... until he sees who's doing the teaching. Attracted to lovely professor Erica Stone (Day), he masquerades as a novice in her class. Soon he's her prize pupil, all the while trying to make her his own prize.
Also answering the roll call in this engaging romp are Gig Young (in an Oscar.-nominated portrayal), Mamie Van Doren, Nick Adams and Jack Albertson. Ready, class? Today we conjugate "to laugh."

Education vs Experience and a love story too - swissguy
This is a fun romantic comedy with lots of witty lines, good acting, romance and a clash between the value of education vs experience. Clarke Gable plays a self taught newspaper man who never finished high school and Doris Day plays a Journalism professor. He becomes interested in her but pretends to be someone else so she won't know that he is an established newsman. Clarke Gable is very good in the role delivering one liners and witty remarks as if he didn't know he was being funny - kind of naively - which makes him all the more funny and Doris Day is stately, polished and professional as the Journalism professor. They make quite a pair and each represent the advantages of their view point (experience vs education) very well so that we the viewer come to believe both are important to have a full life. It's a film that is lots of fun with some real tried and true stars playing the romantic pair and with a serious message too.Good show. - Jagflynn
We weren't sure how we would like this, but my husband and I both did. The chemistry between Day and Gable was actually not too bad. Doris did a really good job and I actually thought that we would get through a Doris Day movie without her singing but she only made it through half-way. Clark's rival was really good too, he actually stole the show in some scenes. Not a bad show that everyone can watch.
