Yukikaze: Volume 1 - Danger Zone
"Come Back Alive...That's An Order!"
Unbeknownst to the general population, an alien force opened an inter-dimensional gate in Antarctica over 30 years ago in an attempt to invade the Earth. The unified forces of Earth formed an elite military unit under command of the United Nations to combat the aliens. Using the latest technology, they were able to push the alens back throught the portal to the planet they call "fairy."
But the war still rages on. Rei Fukai is an elite pilot of the Special Air Force (SAF) and designated pilot of the Yukikaze, an advanced fighter armed with a sentient computer control system. When fear of alien infiltration within the SAF spreads, the Yukikaze may be the only weapon humanity has to bring an end to this war.
This disc includes Operations 1-2.

The other reviews are absolutely spot-on; Yukikaze is not terribly clear storywise but extremely well-done (which really mirrors the majority of Hollywood movies these days LOL). The animation is brilliant and really that makes up for the lack of a particularly coherent storyline- but being typical of Anime really, it's hardly a problem. Definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of the genre...Disconnected, but pretty - Acelin
If you are looking for an OVA heavy on plot and character development, this is not the anime for you. This anime has a habit of launching you right into the thick of things with little background information, and little in the way of progress. You are left, a lot of times, to draw your own conclusions.
Having said that, the CGI is beautiful, and someone who obviously loves aircraft was responsible for the design and implementation of all things in flight. Macross Zero and Area 88 would be better bets, but if you don't mind being confused, this is worth a watch.Awsome - Logos
Anyone who was a fan of Macross or Area 88 should watch this series. This series gets everything right and looks fantastic. Think "Stealth" but actually good!!!! Note that if you want to trully enjoy the series and have a good stereo rent the DTS disk. Sound is way better and its quicker to rent as everyone rents the dolby digital one. You just don't get the extras.
