I am pretty sure Zip.ca lists the wrong rating for this movie. It is rated 14 by the NS board and 14A by the Ontario board. It has some swearing in it, but not as much as, say, Goodfellas, which this film is clearly inspired by. By the way I heard that in real life, Pesce was a finalist in the lottery but didn't actually win.I liked it - Lucky_Lou
I would give it 3 1/2 stars or more. It was funny to see the interaction between the father and his son. If this guy is supposed to be lucky he sure has a difficult life. I found myself getting right into the story and being upset if the wrong choices are made. I didn't expect much of the movie when I got it, but was pleasantly surprised.Give it a Shot - DoubleDownAgain
29th Street is based on the real life story about Frank Pesce, played by Anthony LaPaglia, a guy who has always been lucky & is one of the finalists for New York's first lottery. The story centers around Frank & his family growing up in NYC. He finds himself to be very 'lucky' in life. The movie is filled with memorable characters that will stay with you for awhile. While it isn't a 'great' film, it is one that I've enjoyed whenever I've seen it over the years, definitely worth a viewing.
