Japan - Scurfy
This movie is about a group of ruthless American gansters using violent attacks to rob various businesses in 1950's Japan and how they are brought down by an army infiltrator. The plot is a bit muddled in the first bit of the film but everything eventually makes sense. It is worth noting that the movie was filmed in Japan and it is interesting to see the culture difference between the Americans and the japanese. Also the video quality of the movie is very good.If you are looking for something a bit different this movie is a good choice.Three stars with a footnote of a question mark - Moir
Or two stars with a footnote hinting at its being a bit better than that ...
Interesting for some historical reasons {how Japan was presented in 1955 in an American film}. There also was an interesting energy at times in the actors. There were moments conveying an interesting visual sense of the Robert Ryan character's forging a group of criminals in jackets and ties capable of moving like a well trained special unit.
The plot ends very weakly (how the 'bad guys' unravel and the 'good guy' survives and how it all ends felt too contrived and unlikely).
