Apollo 13
Anniversary Edition
Houston, we have a problem.
It had been less than a year since man first walked on the moon, but as far as the American public was concerned, Apollo 13 was just another "routine" space flight- until these words pierced the immense void of space: "Houston, we have a problem." Ron Howard directs Academy Award winner Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, and Ed Harris in a riveting suspense-thriller from Imagine Entertainment.
Stranded 205,000 miles from Earth in a crippled spacecraft, astronauts Jim Lovell, Fred Haise and Jack Swigert fight a desperate battle to survive. Meanwhile, at Mission Control, astronaut Ken Mattingly, flight director Gene Kranz and a heroic ground crew race against time-and the odds- to bring them home.
It’s a breathtaking adventure that tells a story of courage, faith and ingenuity that is all the more remarkable because it is true!

Great movie - brad2332
I remember watching this when I was little and I am still impressed to this day. I specifically waited to watch it on Bluray and I am glad I did. This is a movie to watch on the best quality possible. I am not sure how true to the facts this movie is but it was very entertaining and believable. It was pretty cool to see so many well known actors in one movie perform so well. Highly recommended.Boring and overly sentimental. Watch a documentary instead. - KeithTalent
Meh, wow, pretty damn boring, overly-sentimental crap for the most part. I did enjoy some of the shuttle pieces, but I have seen much more interesting footage from various shuttle documentaries. Not much else to say; I liked Gary Sinise quite a bit and some of the in-flight stuff was ok, but lots of boring parts and eye-rolling moments in-between. Ron Howard at his worst here.A well-told episode in history - Mr_Humidty
Ron Howard does a great job telling the story of the rescue of Apollo 13. The film is thrilling, even though most viewers will know the outcome of the film. And the vividness and realism of the space flight is quite striking. (All the scenes were filmed in actually zero-gravity.)
However, I don't know what the film is saying exactly. Unlike "The Right Stuff," there's nothing too deep beneath it And I think manned space exploration is an enormous waste of money, so I don't like the empty romanticization of it.
