Wild In The Streets / Gas-s-s-s (Midnite Movies Double Feature)
Wild in the Streets
"A kind of instant classic" (The New York Times)! Tune in. Turn on. TEEN out! When Congress gives 15-year-olds the right to vote, the youngsters promptly elect a rock-star president. But after the new prez decrees mandatory retirement at 30 and LSD therapy at 35, Americans begin to suspect that democracy has hit a minor snag in this "often chilling" (Variety) and "wickedly funny" (The Overlook Film Encyclopedia) satire! Starring Shelley Winters, Christopher Jones, Hal Holbrook and Richard Pryor!
Gas-s-s-s
Anarchy goes airborne in this "insane, often uproarious" (Leonard Maltin) farce about vaporizing the generation gap! When a deadly gas kills everyone over 25, the world devolves into a chaotic - and zany - struggle for power. And as a band of peace-loving hippies goes cross-country seeking utopia - only to find football fascists and demented dictators - they soon discover that even the American dream has a touch of gas! Directed by Roger Corman.

I really enjoyed the politically themed psychedelic WILD IN THE STREETS. It's always great to see films that are created when someone actually has something to say. Unfortunately Gas-s-s-s is just too much, at least after WILD IN THE STREETS. Perhaps watch them the other way and it'll work, but Gas-s-s was too crazy 'trying to be psychedelic' to me after the organic Wild In the Streets.Gas-s-s-s shines. - shale
Gas-s-s-s is certainly the better of the two. It is all over the place and new things pop up so quickly that it makes the plot ridiculous. This is a good one to sit around with some friends and giggle at how bad it is.
Wild in the Streets, on the other hand, is not so fun to watch as a joke. It is way too long and the weak plot drags about half way through. It certainly has its moments but these few moments don't make the entire film worthwhile.Campy and fun. - J.R.Mints
Wild In The Streets is a zany political satire that deals with themes of rebellion, drugs, and rock and roll. The story has its shortcomings, but is wonderfully directed and is as blast to watch. A movie like this will probably never be made again, so I recommend checking it out.
