This movie goes over the believable line, but it is still fun to watch. I don't think real people would really act like this. But it is pretty funny to watch. The love story between the main characters is okay. But the mother in law, played by Jane Fonda is the highlight.Lame-in-law - really_fat_man
Yes, i'm a guy, but I thought this movie was lame. Overly predictable, unengaging plot and horrible acting equals a movie worth skipping. A few small laughs throughout, but not worth your time. Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda square off with some womanly-wiles type stuff, but all in all, you know how it's going to end before it does. Sadly, my wife made me watch the whole thing with her. :)Entertaining bit of fluff! - Muggins
This so-so romantic comedy marks the much anticipated return of Jane Fonda to the big screen after a far too long absence! I thought it was a rather surprising vehicle for her to choose for her comeback but then she did start out in romantic fluff (Barefoot in the Park is still one of my all time favs).
Other than his incredible blue eyes, Michael Vartan barely registered with me in this film. There was a serious lack of chemistry between him and Lopez but then one could say that the movie really wasn't about the two of them. It would have been nice to see more passion pass between them but that was all saved for the scenes between Jane and Jennifer and, quite surprisingly, I don't think the movie suffered all that much for that lack of a believable connection between Vartan and Lopez.
Wanda Sykes was hilarious in many of her scenes and certainly helped to make this one a worthwhile bit of fluff to watch - I for one was not left thinking that this was time I could have better spent doing something else!
