More of a QA with audience! - Buffy
This DVD does nit have many classic clips! It is more of a look at what happened when the audience got to ask questions and request kisses from their favorite cast members...Lots of reminicing between the cast but lack of clips whis was disappointing! I would rent this is I was a true die-hard fan that needed to know all the details as one of the facts which I learned was that Vicki Lawrence was a fan of Carol Burnett who actually reached out to Carol to come and see her play which she did then the rest is history!I loved The Carol Burnett Show as a kid!! - OkaZoo
This was not what I expected it to be at all...
If you too are thinking that this will be a compilation of some of the best skits from the much loved Carol Burnett Show, a walk down memory lane and a chance to enjoy all over again all of those hilarious moments that had your sides aching the first time(s)around...
Well you may want to reconsider whether or not that's what you're looking for because this was a rather entertaining time spent looking back at something of the old show but it is certainly not what I described above.
There are a few inserts of some specific skits I would say maybe one or two maximum three and the rest of the time is Carol at the time of the taping talking with the audience and her co-stars about the show and a few too many looks at her past exchanges with the audience during the "Bump up the lights!" segment of the show.
I am not sure why they chose necessarily to focus on that aspect of the show in my opinion it was certainly not the most entertaining part.
The skit comedy and the characters those crazy creative performers we're able to create was by far the best part of the show hence the reason why the body of the show was made up of that and only a small portion of the show was the "Bump up the lights" type of exchange. So again why they chose to focus so much on that in this special I am not sure I suspect that it might be because that was a fairly unique part of the show that very few if any other hosts were doing at the time. It was interesting/cute in a small dose on each show but certainly not a solid enough part of the show to carry a whole special.
So was it worth the rental yes, I would say it was, it was light, fluffy and fun but not the hilarious time I was expecting to spend with those rip roaringly funny characters that The Carol Burnett Show so expertly brought to life...
