This must be the strangest movie I have ever seen! In a way, it reminded me of Stargate because of the Egyptian Gods returning to the planet, but there are some elements of the movie that are unexpected.
The main characters were developed well, and I think the main actors played their roles well. The drama that unfolds is interesting and kept my attention. Some of the computer generated effects and visuals aren't the best, but I think the roughness is more of an artistic style that adds another unique element to this movie.
Enjoy.Great art film and good SF - Wentai
A great movie, it showcases something rarely tapped by talent-shy hollywood -- Ancient Egypt. Numerous novels and fantasy books use ancient egypt as the setting for their works but Hollywood has chosen not to do so. Even this is produced by a small indie group as opposed to a fancy hollywood studio.
Without giving you any spoilers, a massive pyramid appears over the city and trouble begins for those who must deal with it. A young woman faces an unexpected visit and a young man thinks he might be a pawn in a massive power struggle.
The set is great, the costumes and makeup wonderful, the interiors fabulous. My only complaint is that some characters are CG; computer graphics is for backgrounds and settings, not characters. Despite that the film succeedsd admirably; a fast paced, dark, gritty, dreary world lit up by the beauty and grace of the female lead, this movie blends egyptian lore with modern high tech ideas. Would magic and technology ever mix? What exactly is in the pyramid? Zip and find out.
immortal -- a fast paced, lovingly filmed art piece that creates a lush, complex world that never existed. Highly recommended.Serious Science Fiction - Zoyamauz
I did not know what to expect from this movie hearing both positive and negative reviews - It is an interesting movie for the simple fact that you can imagine how the work of Enki Bilal has influenced major movies such as the 5th Element, The Matrix, X-men, Blade Runner and even the Stargate series. Unfortunately I think that in this particular production the team was a little confused as the story gets lost somewhere along the way. It also takes some time to get into, as the visuals strongly resemble playstation video games. Thank God there are some real people too and not just morphed figures at least they bring a little bit of life into it. Bottom Line: If you are not a die-hard fan of the science fiction genre do not rent this movie.
