OK, so, as a few others have pointed out, Total Recall is cheesy and some of the effects look a little ridiculous by today's standards. It doesn't really matter. The script and performances are still winning, and this is simply a downright fun film. It also presents a fully formed vision of the future that -- while not particularly convincing -- makes this very effective escapist fare.Try Not To Remember This - kav2001c
This film did not age well at all. Outright cheesy by todays standards.
Arnold plays a mundane worker who is against pet cloning. His wife keeps pushing him to get a new copy of the family dog to make the kids happy but Arnold has morale issues with the technology. Early on he is warned noone would ever clone a person because that would be illegal (gee wonder where that thread is going...)
Features some innovative moments, especially the Mars station & a wise cracking alien who doesnt even have any kids, and Arnold is decent in the film. Its just the film has been passed by far better entries in the sci-fi genre.Remember this - Chuck_Bytes
Well if you thought it was worth watching, the new remastered version is a lot better. I can't say I liked the film too much as the character creations were rather strange, some of those mutants you'd think belonged in a side show down some dark alley, and the whole thing kinda felt wrong, but it's an Arny classic.
