The Naked Truth
Celebrities hate them, politicians fear them and athletes despise them - the tabloids! Starring Terry-Thomas and comic genius Peter Sellers, this "hilarious satire" (The Film Daily) proves that victims of slander can get their sweet revenge. Full of "high levity" (Cue), The Naked Truth is nothing short of an "attack on the funny bone" (Variety)!
A sleazy publisher (Dennis Price) has been blackmailing prominent Londoners by threatening to print shocking stories about them. Actor Sonny MacGregor (Sellers), a prime target, figures the only way to stop him...is to kill him! A master of disguises, Sonny repeatedly attempts to stop the poison press. But it looks like he'll need help from a band of unlikely assassins...those also scandalized on the rag's front page!

Can't remember why I rented this - spaz
because I don't care for Peter Sellers. I rented it to see Joan Sims, as I hadn't seen her in anything before the Carry On films, of which I'm a big fan. I was disappointed in her mousy character and she didn't act it particularly well. I blame the director, because she's fabulous. Or maybe she didn't like her character either.
I didn't watch the whole movie.very funny moments, movie I am glad to see again - Moir
I think Sellers is amazing in this film in which the character he plays as part of his role puts on different voices and mannerisms to impersonate different characters. An added wrinkle to this is how since the impersonations are part of the movie's plot they can be shown at times coming apart (a moustache peeling off for example) or not quite always coming off. So one sees the impersonation 'from the side' as it were with the scaffolding showing in mid impersonation or the imitation not quite working - but obviously done deliberately and under the full control of a master impersonator, making the experience of Seller's talent at this all the more vivid.
I think it definitely worth seeing by anyone who finds Peter Sellers interesting. I think it also has some very funny slapstick moments in it.
