Swimming With Sharks: Special Edition
This is a Special Edition, you schmuck
Kevin Spacey stars as Buddy Ackerman, "the boss from hell" who reigns over an entry-level corporate job anyone would kill for. The ambitious Guy (Frank Whaley), Buddy's personal assistant, finds himself ducking everything from insults to paperweights as he tries to satisfy Buddy's needs. But when those "needs" involve Guy's girlfriend, he snaps. In a wicked twist of personnel payback, Guy takes Buddy as his "personal hostage" for a hilarious executive-suite revenge that is every abused employee's dream come true!

Film is saved by an energetic Kevin Spacey. - estefan
An attempt at satirizing the typical Hollywood executive's quick-angry mentality, the film mainly works thanks to the work of Kevin Spacey. Every time Spacey is on-screen, the film is on fire as he takes writer George Huang's rather pedestrian dialogue and completely flies with it, creating a fascinating character who weren't just waiting to appear on-screen again. The main issue I had with an otherwise enjoyable film was Frank Whaley's Guy. He's just so un-interesting of a character and at points, you do sympathize with Buddy Ackerman, even though we're supposed to view him as some sort of monster. The romantic plot didn't quick click with me, but Spacey is just fascinating to watch here. What could have been an average film is saved by Spacey's multi-layered, energetic performance which is enough to make the film worth seeing.Subpar Spacey - xYJx
While Spacey is known for his tremendous acting chops, don't expect Glengarry Glen Ross or American Beauty or even Usual Suspects. Heck, it doesn't even come close to the meandering Negotiator. Granted the film was released in 1995, previous performances were stronger. Check out Consenting Adults for an early, great performance. As for Swimming With Sharks, probably best suited for dedicated satire fans only.Hilarious, shocking, entertaining - temerity
My girlfriend recommended this movie to me as I work in the television broadcasting industry and have an eccentric boss.
This film touches base on some key issues of career ambition, sacrifice, and humiliation that one will experience in climbing up the corporate ladder.
I loved this film, it was dark, funny, and Kevin Spacey portrayed the most terrible of human beings that you just cannot look away.
Amazing movie, great entertainment, a little painful to experience but worth it!
