The Wedding Party
"Something fresh and funny!"-N.Y. Times
The Wedding Party is a delightful film showcasing the early directorial style of film legend Brian De Palma (Carrie, Scarface, The Untouchables). The lost gem also features Robert De Niro (Raging Bull, Taxi Driver) and Jill Clayburgh (An Unmarried Woman) in their first screen appearances!
The happy day has finally arrived for Charlie and Josephine. The invitations have been sent, the relatives have arrived and Charlie is just about to meet his new family. There is just one problem as they head toward the altar, Charlie's case of cold feet brought on by his two best pals Cecil and Alistair. Will Charlie say "I do" or will he let Cecil and Alistair talk him out of it?
Don't miss what Gene Shalit of NBC - TV calls "one of the most charming, most frothy and inventive pictures in a long time"! No need to RSVP for The Wedding Party, just watch!

Just not worth my time - Poet
For once in my life, I stopped watching a movie I had started from the beginning before the end came. Maybe it is that I realize that I am getting older and that time is precious, but it became apparent to me that this movie wasn't worth my time. I gave it a chance, about 30 minutes, and it still didn't get me. The editing is horrible, the acting is atrocious, it is plain boring.I couldn't stand this film - CanCinephile
It’s hard to say anything about The Wedding Party without drawing back to the inexorable slide of nonsense that De Palma’s direction takes this film on. De Niro or not, this film is pretty much a heaping turd. I read one review from a young woman who commented that De Niro was magical and humourous. He may well have been, but for all the chaos and madness - not to mention the shoddy sound editing - I didn’t notice a thing. This film is worth seeing if only for a sign of things to come from Brian De Palma and a strange vision of performance from De Niro. Other than that, skip it. I couldn’t stand it.
