The Cave
There are places man was never meant to go.
Deep in the Romanian forest, a team of scientists stumbles upon the ruins of a 13th century Abbey. On further inspection, they make a startling discovery - the Abbey is built over the entrance to a giant underground cave system. Local biologists believe the cave could be home to an undisclosed eco-system, so they hire a group of American cave explorers to help them investigate its depths.
Jack (Cole Hauser) and his brother Tyler (Eddie Cibrian) are thrill-seeking professional cave explorers who run a team of the top divers in the world. They arrive in Romania with all the latest equipment, including a new type of scuba tank allowing a diver to remain submerged for up to 24 hours. The crack unit, which also includes Charlie (Piper Perabo) and Buchanen (Morris Chestnut), immediately begins their exploration. But what they find deep inside the cave is not just a new eco-system, but an entirely new species altogether...

Major Disappointment - CraftyScreenwriting0
We watched this because my wife got it confused with all the good press for Descent. If you want a really scary monster movie in a cave, rent Descent. If you want a monster movie with wooden dialog, undistinguished characters, and pretty actors, with kind of ridiculous creatures, rent this one.Awesome - Wentai
The movie itself was very good. The cave was cool, Piper was beautiful, the monster was neat, the action scenes well done, and the ending perfect. I love this film, and while I'm not going to buy it -- this kind of film wouldn't be so good the second time around as you would know what's going to happen -- it was a great rent. I'm giving it five stars so that others will go and rent this dark, grim, exciting cave movie.Modern B Movie - kav2001c
Pretty much what I expected (not so great looking creatures, lots of running, not so good acting, and predictable ending)
Its a decent creature movie but nothing Id ever pay to watch in a theatre or buy for my collection; its a rental when you are in the mood
Local legends tell of Templar Knights who went to battle demons (and as the local guide jokingly tell them, the legends never end well)
They build a church on the land and seal up the hole until someone decides to open it
They get trapped inside and now must find another way out
Of course they realize they arent the first explorers, and soon enough they encounter the "demon" creature themselves
