An Angel For May
Tom, a young boy living in Yorkshire, finds an old fireplace in abandoned farmyard that is a portal to the 1940s. Travelling back to the Yorkshire of 60 years before, Tom befriends some of the hardworking farmers and evacuees of wartime England. Intermingling Tom's present-day troubles, like his mother's impending marriage, which Tom does not approve of, with the troubles of 1940s Yorkshire - like refugees, rationing, and bombing raids - An Angel for May is an adventure that is great for the whole family that does not oversimplify the problems of war or of adolescence.

More of a family/kid movie - calenita
This is more of a family/kid movie. Nice for the whole family to watch and get a glimpse of life in WW II England, seen through the eyes of a modern-day boy. Good actors in it. May is the name of the little girl in the movie - not the month of May! I never realized the Yorkshire area was bombed in WW II like this movie depicts.Makes the past real - fairweather
I enjoyed this title because it took modern characters and made them visit the past where those times are lived as real. The acting is decent and it makes you think. The ending was good in this respect as well. I thought it a good movie for (mature) children who have never experienced war to help them understand where people who have been through war are coming from and why they think as they do. Entertaining and yet informative, it would do well to be shown on days when Veterans are being honored.
