The Untouchables
The critics and public agree. Brian DePalma's The Untouchables is a must see masterpiece - a glorious, fierce, larger-than-life depiction of the mob warlord who ruled Prohibition-era Chicago...and the law enforcer who vowed to bring him down.
This classic confrontation between good and evil stars Kevin Costner as federal agent Eliot Ness, Robert DeNiro as gangland kingpin Al Capone and Sean Connery as Malone, the cop who teaches Ness how to beat the mob: shoot fast and shoot first.

I have not seen this movie for some time and enjoyed it throughout. Capone's best film re enactment. Graet actors. Federal agent Elliot Ness assembles a personal team of mob fighters to bring Chicago crime boss Al Capone to justice using unconventional means during the mob wars of the 1920s. This fictionalized account of the arrest of Al Capone is heavy on style and gunfire. Highly recommend.Still Holds Up - EmperorNero
I've always enjoyed Gangster/Crime flicks, and The Untouchables is the movie that introduced my to the genre.
The film is solid through-and-through, with the only real knock being the "Hollywoodization" of the "Heroes".
The movie is very well paced, with brilliant performances by Kevin Costner and Robert DeNiro. Sadly, Sean Connery's performance is the weak part in the overall cast performance, although I attribute that more to poor writing than acting.
I have now watched this movie 4 or 5 times over 10 years, and enjoy it more each time.
Watchability: Don't rent, buy. Great flick. He pulls a knife, you pull a gun... - Diceman
There are so many positive things one could say about this movie it's hard to know where to begin. Brian De Palma weaves a tale that harkens back to the classic gangster films in terms of style and dialogue, but has a harder modern edge to it. Sean Connery rightfully won an Oscar for his performance as an experienced, honest cop surrounded by crime and corruption. A movie brimming with humor, action, and heartbreak it is a cinematic classic that everyone needs to see at least once.
